Re: log; marina & russ
"Give me a break," and the tone of voice rolled eyes for her when apprehension gave way to the body of annoyance, like weight on water-rot stairs. Nathan when exhausted could sleep through freight trains derailing, and he remained floppy, unresponsive weight when Marina stepped up and took him from Russ. Nathan might have been bone tired, but his arms still went around her neck like even in sleep, his body remembered how to hang on.
The little blue backpack was still slung around one of her forearms, without quite gathering every toy back where it belonged. She didn't doubt that at least one would turn up beneath some of the in-process cars being worked out in the front. It wasn't something she was worried about now. With dawn threatening in a few hours, she just wanted to be home, and Marina started in the direction of exit before pausing.
"Will you get the car door for me?" She asked it without looking back, like she didn't want to be completely detained for what was sure to be an unhelpful response on his part. She didn't turn around so that she could just keep walking without getting invested in the spitting match she was just too tired for. Nathan grumbled and held on tighter.
