Re: Chinatown Apt: Robert/Selina
Bruce did consider it, he was tempted, and when the time came, he let it go. And he was not lying when he said he was happy for them. He didn't know the man, he seemed like a good person, and if things were different, he would've left the decision with Betty. It was her life after all. Her choices too that counted. At the time, she wanted him. After awhile, she took the better road, and he had no hard feelings about it. "I'm just saying there are parts of this that work and that means it's better than you think. That first time together, when we were laughing in bed, when you stayed for one night, it was good." He didn't ask wasn't it, because for once, for once, he felt like he was right.
Bruce studied her and listened and thought it through. He wasn't hurt by what she was saying, probably because he knew it already. She never lied to him. She was upfront this entire time. He'd agreed to it knowing that, and he knew his reasons why, clear as day. Like any idiot with a heart, with a crush on a woman, he hoped eventually she'd move on from it, and she'd open her heart to him. But pushing it on her wasn't going to work. Putting that expectation on her, silent or not, wasn't going to work.
"So talk. Talk. I had my chance to be about me, I talked, and now it's yours. Whatever this is, it can be on hold. We moved fast and we moved intense. I want to be with you, but not if it's one more reason you're crowded and having trouble breathing. Let's pause. And if you change your mind, we'll talk about it then. If you don't, I'll cope." He wanted a different path, he didn't want to take a big step backward, but it wasn't about him anymore. She'd been through so much, and maybe this wasn't making her good to her. "Forget about it. It's about you now. Talk to me."
