Re: Chinatown Apt: Robert/Selina
Bruce wondered if she knew how little he spoke up until SHIELD took him onto their helicarrier. He lived in a place he didn't speak the language, although he learned the basics, but his conversations lasted minutes if anything. He couldn't remember the last time he spoke for more than a few sentences before that, except the last time he saw Betty. There was no one to talk to and nothing he could say that the people around him would understand, at least before all of this happened. But talking was connection and connection was dangerous. Hadn't recent events proved that?
But if she wanted words, he'd give her words.
He was worried when she almost choked down the water, but telling her to slow down wasn't necessary, she learned that all on her own. She was in a bad state; she would've had to be, coming there, but at least she chose somewhere to end up. "Tony told me once I got back. And I pointed out she would feel rejected, but he seems to think if something goes wrong she's better off thinking that. I'm not sure what that logic means." Bruce hadn't gone so far as so tell Pepper anything, mostly because that was not his place in the least. If Selina did it, that was another story. He almost said he didn't tell her to filter for Bruce Wayne, because of course that's who she thought about, but that was exactly what he did. Even he was looking out for the guy, go figure. "Either way, it's down now. She told Gwen she was going to kill herself again." Cheerful conversations.
He smiled when she ate a strawberry. It was a start. She was taking it slow, that was good. Bruce listened to her story, and it made sense, that was when she was younger. "Damian's the one who said you were old when you got back? Because he was used to the young one." And he knew that bothered her, she hated being compared to her younger self, maybe that's where it all started. If he had opinions on the story she gave there, he didn't share them. He was listening. "Do you think he'll try to bring him back? I thought the Pit was dead, but I'm not sure what other reason there would be."
