log: marvel, mutant manor - jack/rachel
Rachel wasn't there. Physically, she was up in her room, pretending to read a book while she poked around the mansion. Most of the new mutants here were once agents of some sort, military types that took orders and didn't like to be looked at for too long. She understood that very well. After coming to the mansion as a teenager who only took orders that caused pain, she had a hard time seeing what the benefit of the mundane world. Rachel never really got used to it, no hound ever could.
And, that's why she was poking around.
A man was outside. Jack? Jack. He had scars running up and down his mind that cut so deep they never stopped bleeding. He searched for quiet in a world where there wasn't any. He appreciated the soft chill in the air, burning off at the edges.
He wouldn't hear a voice, no not yet. Instead, it felt as if memories were popping up in his mind without prompting. You still smell like smoke. The woman with blonde hair reminded Rachel of another woman. One who brandished weapons out of purple energy and stared off into the distance with a coolness that saw things you never could. Jack could see this woman now, she seemed to mesh with his memories of Jack. Blonde hair over straight black. In two voices, she said: "I would need to touch you to see whatever you're seeing, Corvus."
