"If?" He didn't like the use of the word. Instinct made him defensive, and he glared daggers at the other man like that would do a damn lick of good. "The hell do you think, Shane? That there's something?" As for Clem not believing it, he figured that would have more to do with naivety than selfishness. But there it was again, that difference of opinion.
Deep down, he knew he was right. Knew she needed to know. But when he got defensive he tended to lash out, a coping mechanism he hadn't used in a while. "It was for me to tell," he snapped. "Not you. Stay out of it." Unfair as that might have been, Graham didn't give himself enough time to regret it. Instead he turned on heel and stalked out of the cell, wanting somewhere quiet, somewhere he could be alone.
