Yeah, he'd seen the dress. But Clem was like that, liking pretty things and bright things and that was nothing like Lorelei, no, nothing at all. And he didn't look at her like some men would; he wouldn't no matter what she wore. He didn't think for a damn moment that her intentions had been anything but innocent, either. So she'd wanted to show off. It was sweet, in his mind.
"Don't call her that." Graham might've known Shane meant well but he scowled all the same. "She didn't know, Shane, you understand? Didn't realize how much she..." He faltered. "Not her fault. She didn't mean anything by it." He dragged his hands down his face, because now she knew, knew the truth he'd fought so hard to hide, and he had no idea where the hell that left them. And maybe it rankled him a little that Shane had told her anything at all, but there was no changing it now, was there? And he'd known it would happen sooner or later.
