Re: Osborn Estate: Jason/Gwen/Bruce + Harry
Bruce's admonishment didn't sink in well with Jason, who shot him a look. He'd never taken well to being scolded, well meaning as it was, and in this particular moment when all he wanted to do was cold clock Gwen's buddy and drag her out of this place, it hit him at precisely the wrong angle.
Watching them talk to each other made him feel like the third, crazy wheel of two sane people trying to talk him down. He saw a pair of insane people willing to let her stay, in this house, with these people, drugged up in a way that was obviously just going to make things worse. It wasn't only about her being safe - it was about her being well. How could anybody get better with a guy like that around, watching as they shot her full of drugs? How would she even know if they started running the wrong kind of tests? If they gave her a double dose of sedatives and knocked her out, they could do whatever the hell they wanted to her.
When she backed away and hopped down on her own, leaving him standing there with his arms out, empty-handed, his posture changed. He straightened, and he dropped his hands to his sides. So that was how it was. After everything that had just happened.
He was just the crazy guy on the outside, who Gwen had to plead with Bruce to walk out the door like a badly behaved child, while her buddy up the stairs who made little girls cry and snapped at her was the good guy, helping her out.
By the time Bruce turned back to speak with him again, Jason's expression had dropped like a stone from desperate to completely guarded. He turned toward the door before Bruce was finished speaking, and he walked off without another word.
