Re: jack's room, x-mansion
I don't think I was actually on fire. It didn't hurt, and fire should hurt. [It was a practical response. Somewhere, sometime, she'd decided to approach this from a standpoint of practicality. Learn the limits, learn how to use it, don't think about the fact that she was on fire, etc. As for him, she didn't actually think his ability had anything to do with what they'd seen in the facility, not entirely. What she'd seen painted on the walls of that place was rage, and she didn't need to imagine Corvus with abilities of any kind of picture that rage. She knew what it looked like on his face. It was familiar. It was more familiar to the recent resigned nothing she saw when she looked at him. She'd told Ella that they never fought anymore; she didn't think that had anything to do with them understanding each other any better. It was resignation; he didn't even care enough to argue with her about everything anymore.
Honestly, she didn't either.
She ignored his awkward "I'm sorry," because she didn't need it. What he was saying about the man in the facility was more important. She sat forward on the windowseat.] You'd recognize him if you saw him again?
