[For Ash, nearly three months had passed before the door opened back to the hotel. Three months filled with panic over her son, over her family, over everything that she had been separated from without warning. Along with panic, those three months were filled with a lot of change as well.
It wasn't a change that was tangible, not something she could put her finger on or really describe, but crossing over into Marvel had woken up something deep inside her. It was like a stillness, a void that surrounded her, that pulled and devoured, but it didn't harm. At least not that she could pick up on. There were times in the city, when she was out, arms wrapped around her middle, guarding against the world that seemed foreign in so many ways, that people would look her way, startled almost. She'd hurry on, she never waited for questions to be asked...
But Ash. She knew that something had changed.
None of that mattered when the door opened back up, flinging arms open to embrace her yet again into the heart of the hotel. Hurried steps took her home, back to Ocean's Eleven, though a voice in the back of her head told her that wasn't home any longer, not really. But it was where her son was, and she needed to be back with him. So she hurried back, back to a world that had practically stood still in her absence. Only hours had passed, ticking slowly away, while days and weeks had trickled by for her.
But there was Matthew, grinning from the floor where he and his sitter, Anna, played Chutes and Ladders.
Despite the changes, despite all that had gone on in three months time (to her), things would be okay. They had to be, one way or another.]
