Joe's Coffee: Mary Jane/Gwen
[She almost asked Flash to come with her, which would have been totally cowardly. Okay, so there'd been another Mary Jane around for months, but this was different. This Mary Jane was years of battlefield and bruises, and Gwen's insecurities were tethered to her in a way that was completely unable to be severed, like the central nervous system's brain and spinal cord. And, sure, the last Mary Jane had kind of brought all of Gwen's biggest and baddest fears to life, but they stemmed from this girl, the one that had just come back, and not from the one that had just left. Weird, illogical, completely not-scientific, but factual in a way that was impossible for Gwen to ignore.
So, she totally wanted to bring Flash, but that would be cowardly.
And she did want to make peace. Okay, so that might be a challenge, and the re-arrival of this version of the redhead meant things with Peter totally became wobbly again in Gwen's head, but she could handle that without being a paranoid freak this time. Right? He was just a boy, and her self-worth totally didn't hinge on his preferences.
Right.
At least Harry was kind of a non-issue this time around.
So, after a little makeup to cover the dark circles from her hospital stay, Gwen walked into the coffee shop. Purple skirt and a light grey sweater, knee highs and a headband in slate, and she looked around for the redhead.]
