Re: Borderlands: Kara & Rhys
It depended on what this blue eye was doing, whether or not it was rude. Kara wasn't completely sure, but she thought it was very much likely that it was rude, yes. But she had lived on Pandora for a long time, and she knew it was not a nice place. It was like Krypton at the end, where everyone knew they would die, and where they would do anything they needed to in order to live. When this happened, no one was nice, and everyone was rude. Kara was a child born of a dying world, and the way people behaved here was not very strange. So this little light in his eye, it didn't make her yell or hit him, but she didn't like it.
Rhys frowned when she smiled, and she didn't understand. Kara didn't know that her smile was surface and didn't reach beneath her freckles. Gotham had been hard in many ways for her, but her smile had died with the advent of holes bored in hips, and it hadn't ever come back. That she was too young for this type of smile, it was true. Her smile belonged to someone old and jaded, but she didn't know, and so his frown was not understood. It made her lips turn down into a pout, and this pout was very real.
But she was a girl made for quick recoveries and her, "I will tell you that you are healthy," was flippant, an offering of the reverse side of the coin and her tone was appeasement.
The caravan, it was nicer inside, and Kara leaned back against the console, between the seats, and she looked at Rhys as he positioned himself behind the wheel. "You have lived here?" It wouldn't be a surprise. People lived in all things in Pandora, but she didn't think he was the kind to live in places that were not as shiny as his arm. He dressed bright, and there was not years of dust in his hair, and he was not like people here.
She didn't have a license, and she didn't insist she should drive. "I do not know how to operate it, but it cannot be hard. We are advanced." The last sentence was proudly uttered, and this was accompanied by a smug little smile that declared Kryptonian superiority with a tip of her pert little nose. "I was member of the science caste on my world. I was genetically engineered to be smart. It does not matter I am young." Not true, of course, but she believed it- The part about youth not mattering, because she was absolutely genetically engineered.
She swiveled her hips to look out the front window as Hollow Point passed, and he asked of surprises, which made her grin. "It is a surprise. Do you think I will BOOM blow you up?" She made the motions with her fingers as she turned to look at him again- BOOM and her fingers fanning out in a large explosion.
