Re: Borderlands: Kara & Rhys
Kara didn't know she was being scanned, but she knew that flicker flash of blue in his eye was not how normal human eyes functioned. It was not right, and she narrowed her own blue eyes a little, a tiny bit of construction as she regarded the man in front of her. "What is that? Do not do it," she said, pointing at his eye, and she wouldn't poke it out, but she didn't like what it did. Like the- what was this word- neural port- this was more technology that wasn't organic, and she would scan him once they were into the sun. She wasn't sure how much of him was not robotic, and now she wanted to very much know.
She trusted robotics more than people. This was an important thing to know. Robots didn't do things because they felt or wanted, and that made them better than humans. Humans (and, sometimes, Kryptonians) hurt people. Robots did as people said, and she didn't know who controlled his blue eye or this neural port, and she wasn't sure about it at all.
But he didn't look terrible. Most of the people here dressed ugly, and he was bright colors, and she liked these things that didn't match. Krypton was sleek metals and smooth surfaces, and Kara had always worn the brightest clothing in her entire caste.
She wasn't even offended he would not let her touch him in his port. She wouldn't let someone touch her in her port.
He said he felt pale, but he didn't look it. But humans were strange about body temperature, and she wouldn't be able to tell if he was sick without being in the sun. She would be able to see if his entire body was right then. "I will tell you if you are ill." She offered it magnanimously, and with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She didn't smile like that much anymore, like the yellow sun with its heat that warmed through everything.
He opened the door to the very ugly vehicle, and she climbed inside with a hop that was completely unnecessary. But she'd need to be careful once they were above the ground, and she didn't need to now, and she wanted to enjoy it for the few last minutes.
Inside, she headed right for the steering wheel and the instrument panels.
