There was no response as they continued to pull her away from the rustle, from the darkness that was coming in, devouring everything in its path, leaving behind only a void which ached and cried. They had never stopped to wonder what that thing was, only that it was present more often than not, but if they stopped and thought for a moment, they were pretty sure they had an idea of what it was.
