Bucky was only half-listening to the rambled explanation for why this man was following him. He was in a uniform, yes, but that didn't really mean anything. If he was following him, chances were the uniform was stolen or bought. Why else would a 'cop' follow someone who wasn't breaking the law this far into an abandoned building? No, he'd been sent by Dyatlov.
The fact that the man who was tracking him pulled off a difficult knife defense was, then, not so much of a surprise. What was off was the ease and flexibility with which he performed it.
Unfortunately for him, the 'cop,' after evading the knife, still had his back to the stairs. As he turned to face him again, Bucky began to struggle to press the knife into the man's throat, fighting the opposing pressure as if getting the knife into him was his only object. Then he kicked out sharply to collapse the man's knee so he would fall back and down the stairs, wrenching and twisting his arm out of that tight grip, using the momentum to his advantage and to avoid following the 'cop' down.
