Re: Wayne Manor: destiny/steph.
[Her eyes travel to the book in a moment of silence, and while she's placated by the fact that they've both at least acknowledged that this (whatever it is) exists, her mind is still running a thousand miles a minute. About what he's said, about what she's said, about those raw nerves that keep ruining things for her and shutting her down. But, even as her mind continues to race, she takes a moment to flash him a smile, something appreciative and bordering on sweet, for his effort. She knows he's trying, and she's got to be a difficult person to try with. So, acknowledgement of that, too, though the words go unsaid.
But then, she huffs, rolling her eyes again, and sure, she's dramatic, but she's far from the worst in the bunch of the batfamily. Steph tries her hardest to glare at him, even at the twitch at the corner of his mouth, but her mouth twitches, too.] Oh, I'm not as bad, fuck you. [She tosses a popped kernel at his head, a grin she's fighting just breaking free despite herself. She'd never admit she was as bad -- or well, maybe she would, but more out of self-pity than any sort of self-awareness. She smirks, fighting the urge to roll her eyes again.] Maybe that's why we all wind up in this clusterfuck of a family, huh? [It's rhetorical, and she knows he's right. Birds of a feather, right? And maybe that's why Eddie and Selina didn't feel like they fit in anymore -- maybe, accidentally, the birds (including herself) had driven them all away.]
So we're all judgmental assholes, then? [Her tone isn't hurt, more teasing, a blonde eyebrow quirking up and up as her mouth curled a little. Another popcorn to his head, her mouth going serious again.] That are all totally capable of blowing up the city? Let's be real, we've all probably done it at some point or another. I mean, I started a city-wide war when I was 16. We've all got fantastic records for keeping this city from falling to pieces.
