Re: pete's house: gwen & peter
Don't scoff! It was kind-of-you that came up with the robot thing. Old you. Old you wasn't the nicest, but I think he was just trying to do the intentional distance thing, and I think I wasn't how he remembered me, and I don't think that was good for him. [She knew he was right about diffusing anger, and she knew that was a dangerous road that led to a lot of emotional abuse, but she couldn't just stop caring about Harry.] In high school, Harry and I only had each other. You and Flash were all tied up in Mary Jane, and it was kind of us against the world in this super weird place. It's hard to turn my back on that, just because he's turned his back on me. [She was almost sorry for the subject change when his smile flickered.] You're totally fixated on the good stuff. [She smiled, because it was kind of nice to have someone like that around, even if it meant she worried about him not facing stuff he needed to face. But he nudged her, and she stuck her tongue out at his little sarcastic quip about him being the nice one.] It's not my fault there are jerky versions of you, Peter Parker. Take it up with your psyche.
[But there was absolutely no way she could keep from laughing at his arm dramatics, and she tried to muffle the sound so Aunt May wouldn't hear, but she was only kind of successful.] I was totally you. [Now, she was just being a punk, but she paid attention to what he said about his future. Okay, there was no Mr. Osborn, and since his death was a variant, and not a fixed point, then she was willing to convince herself that there was no scientific reason to think anything bad would happen to him.] Mr. Osborn isn't here, so you aren't doomed. But.... [All run together, deliberately and with a smile.] Iwastotallyyou!
[It was kind of silly to be silenced by a mock frown, but it was a thing that happened, and then he was staring, and it was like a chain reaction, because she just stared back. She occasionally blinked cornflower blue eyes, but mostly she stared, and she totally had no idea what he was saying. Nope. Completely distracted. He was leaning closer, shifting his weight onto his arm, and she muttered.] We can blame it on science, say it was an experiment. [The kissing. Because she could tell he was going to kiss her. And she was more nervous that before, because she wasn't her, but she was, and it was kind of super... something (really articulate).] Aunt May's going to kick me out. [(Shut up, self!), and then he kissed her. Her eyelids fluttered a few times, and it took a few seconds for her to close her fingers on his shirt at the hip, and then she kissed him back. Tentative, like she wasn't sure he wasn't going to jump up and rub the back of his hand against his mouth.]
