You probably should not have been. Christianity played a huge role in the development and civilization of Europe, particularly on the continent.
As for the Louvre, around the Mona Lisa is always crowded and the Denon wing frequently so, but the Dutch Masters and the Rubens room are not. Depending on what you want to look at, it may be very overcrowded or not at all. Do you have a preference?
