Re: quicklog: domino/jean at the mansion
[Just the mention of familiar names on the journal was enough to force Jean to fight back tears. Cable? Her son. Not biologically, but she had raised him as her own when she was Redd. Storm? Her best friend. Wolverine? Her forbidden love. That was confusing enough. Then she spoke with Domino. Everything had changed. She knew that was inevitable, but it was hard to imagine no matter how many alternate timelines she had seen. It was the lack of mutants that made her so eager for contact with anyone that shared the gene, but her needs lead her vision to be tunneled, even hoping that flamethowing mutant would be Rachel.
Charles died. In a bad way. She didn't know what happened, but reading those words on the journal was a suckerpunch to her heart. It was different than him simply not being here. Death wasn't the end, Jean was proof positive of that, but this was a man that was practically her father. If he was going to die, it should have been peacefully, surrounded by his students. It must have killed Scott inside. Often she felt that Scott and Charles were closer than she was with the Professor. Hopefully Emma had known the right thing to say to comfort him before she went and bought some new lingerie to walk around the school in.
It felt better when she let those cosmic flames burst forth and envelop a chair. No ash, no scorching, just a controlled inferno that left no trace of what had happened there. She had been teetering on the brink of burning everything down since the issue with Wanda, but she lacked the power to bring it all back. Easy enough way to solve that, but the world did not need to deal with Dark Phoenix once more.
Jean was just coming back inside from the back when she heard Domino calling out for her. Good. Wine. Wine would help. Loosen up all those world-burning inhibitions. Sigh.] I'm here! [A few quick turns, and she flew (literally) into the foyer, feet coming in contact with the ground only to help her slow down. As much as she'd rather be in uniform, Jean wore a simple pair of blue jeans along with a white t-shirt, the only official looking piece of clothing was that X on her belt buckle. She smiled at Domino, trying to forget how upset she had been just minutes before.] Oh, two bottles. We don't even need glasses.
