The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system manages the hydrostatic pressure exerted by blood against blood vessels, and it's been studied extensively in amputees, in order to see how the body knows to produce less blood, in order to ensure blood pressure doesn't spike from too high a quantity. What we've learned is you aren't less. You're more efficient. Your body works better than it did before in a lot of ways. You're amazing, any way you look at it. But you never saw yourself that way, even before this, so don't be too hard on yourself about needing to be okay with it before getting prosthetics.
