Re: in-person: mina/dracula
Her lack of fear pleased him. Oh, Dracula certainly enjoyed causing the emotion in others under the right circumstances, but he viewed it mostly with disdain, another human weakness he did not miss and could not remember enough to wish he could. Mina did not cower, her eyes betrayed her curiosity rather than terror. But even her curiosity went only so deep, and he wondered if she had any idea, even the slightest inkling, of who (or what) the man come to call on her truly was.
"Have you?" He could, if he wished, coax what they spoke of out of her. He could delve into her mind, extract the information in silence. The matter was not pressing enough to make such methods necessary, however. Not yet. Dracula had Miss Ives precisely where he wanted her for the time being, wary yet yearning for more—he had no doubt that they could cross paths again. Presently, his focus was on Mina. The time had come to draw her back into the fold, to reel her in.
He clasped his hands behind his back, ever the gentleman. "My interest in Miss Ives—Vanessa—is not what you would call that of a suitor," he explained, calm, as though he possessed centuries of patience. "It is not a simple thing, Mina, and I will explain at a later time, perhaps. Now, however... I have come for you."
