Re: jurassic world: selina/steph -- escape
[Thankfully, there were no pteranodons as they emerged from beyond the sticky, humid greenery that had been their home for the last week and change. Still, Stephanie kept a diligent eye roaming just in case. There hadn't been very many run-ins, but the false sense of security always worried a blonde bat from Gotham. A girl who was always used to things going from bad to worse. But maybe the worst was waiting for them beyond that door out into the hotel. Who knew what kind of state Gotham was in at this point, and who really knew how everything was going to unfold with Dickie and Damian back? Stephanie? She was worried about all of that. And maybe that was going to be a good enough distraction from her own troubles for the time being. Maybe it'd help her forget just for a little bit.
Because this trip? Well it just didn't do the job.
Stephanie let Selina's words about she and Eddie sit for a moment; she really had nothing to say on the matter. Some days? She thought that Selina was right, but other days, she couldn't believe that things could fall apart so spectacularly if love was involved. She'd loved others before Eddie, of course, but not so wholly, so consumingly. And, maybe Selina had been right all those times she had told Eddie that he was Stephanie's Bat, Stephanie's Joe. Someone who she wrapped her entire life around. It was bad, it was borderline pathetic, and she knew at the end of the day that she needed to find some way to move on. Things? They would never be the same, and that was the long and short of it.
But when Selina continued on about herself and the Bat, Steph's frown deepened.] I don't know what his problem is. [She loved Bruce like a father, and she would never give up on him, but she understood that acute sense of abandonment better than anyone else in Gotham these days. She sighed, and her mouth tugged down still.] I don't know what he wants or needs anymore. I don't even know what he went through when he disappeared. [A sigh.] I'm so sorry.
[A twitch of her mouth, and she squeezed Selina's fingers back before looking at the docks and the door waiting for them there.] A tiny part of me wants to stay stuck in here and not face any of those goddamn problems out there. [A sad smile to the kitty, and she continued on her way towards the door. But then, she stopped and turned to the other woman.] You aren't coming back to Gotham, are you?
