Re: jurassic world: selina/steph -- escape
[Stephanie continued to watch Selina quietly, even as the kitty brushed ahead of the blonde bat towards the clearing and the docks. She adjusted the pack slung over her shoulder, significantly lighter than when they arrived. All the food was gone, she had lost some of her batarangs in scuffles with the dinos, and her taser gun crapped out on Day 3. She did, however, take a break from running for her life to grab some souvenirs. Because duh. But the weight wasn't a distraction from the concern the blonde had for the cat. Her frown deepened, even as the kitty turned around, and wasn't this all just typical that an excursion to help fix, or at least distract, would fail so miserably for the two of them? Steph was tired, so goddamn tired of everything, and this didn't help at all, the dinosaur trip. She tried to let it, but Selina was right: she had more on her mind now than before.
And talk of children had her thinking about her own child, and had her thinking about the thoughts that haunted her during late, late nights. Laying awake and wishing that she and her husband could have the family they always dreamed about. Ache, and she stopped briefly on the edge of the forest, pressing the heel of her hand into her eye. A slow, steadying breath. Another. There was no panic, she was not going to panic.]
I wish it was that easy. [Biting into her lip, she took a third deep, steadying breath before forcing herself to snap out of it. Bemused:] Yeah, but sucking it up is what bats do best, right? [Even if that was so far from the truth for the blonde bat. She listened to Selina's confession, and she smiled something sad and heartbroken. Steph reached a hand and squeezed Selina's fingers.] It's nice, thinking about that kind of life. It's dreamy, honestly. Most days, I still want it too. But I don't think I'm gonna get it.
[Her arms wrapped around her middle, dirt smearing on pale skin.] Are you worried about it though? Or it's small on the grand scheme of things?
