Re: Quicklog: Marvel, Clem & Jake
[Clementine wasn't much like Lore. On the outside, she was near a carbon copy of her sister, but inside they were wired real different. Lore had always been practical, kind, but too wound up in a boy with no ambitions and a hankering for making money easy. Clementine figured maybe she was more like her sister now, all these years older, but she still wouldn't do the things Lore did, and she could think on that without hating now, all just fond missing left in the wake of real old hurt.
But Clem, she loved real expensive things, and the restaurant went and chased away every last bad thing. The menu was decadent, and she ordered rich, like someone accustomed to money and telling the waiter she'd take whatever the chef recommended. It wasn't even that she had a daring palate, but she was raised eating things that most folks hadn't never tasted.
She swished the wine in its glass, airing it some.] I didn't. I just wanted something my momma and daddy would hate, so I went with doctoring and changed partway, when I realized it would be real boring to be in an office all damn day long. You never think on it, what you want to do for your future? Ten years on, where's Jake?
