[Mina was perfectly willing to surrender to Evelyn's greater understanding of the situation at hand, and she climbed from the carriage with all the pomp of nobility, and all the trepidation of a young colt on new legs. But her buttoned boots found the stones of cobble easily and steadily, and she told the carriage to drive on and not return for an hour. She figured that to be sufficient time for any undertaking, and she was solvent enough not to mind the idea of the driver sitting endlessly in wait for her.
