Re: gotham; a bat and a turtle
To be fair, he looked like he could be her boss. No. Her boss' boss' boss. You know, the bigwigs that never go down into the coding cave, and are only seen during presentations to the board members? It was too easy to fall into that role where she felt she needed to impress him and show that she respected him. But this wasn't work, he wasn't her boss, and he said she could call him Bruce. Sure. She could do that. If he could tolerate her rambling, Donna could try to keep this casual and not revert to 'sir.' She nodded a couple of times, quickly, before giving him a thankful grin to show his politeness was appreciated, "Alright, Bruce."
The deadpan response was met with a rather large and very genuine smile from Donna. "Technically, every step we take brings us 'here.' We need to walk away from 'there.'" She tossed her head slightly over her shoulder in the direction they came, her feet shuffling as she walked beside him and away from Wayne Tower. His question gave her pause for a moment, considering how to answer beyond the obvious 'really weird.' "Aside from the dreams, I suppose everything is as normal as one would presumably expect. You know, unpacking, hiring a new employee, watching HYDRA attack Stark Tower, going to a wedding reception where everyone is discussing the mob." The list ran off her tongue as though she had answered that as her daily routine for years. She rolled her shoulders in resignation, hands still stuffed deep in her pockets as they walked. "I don't suppose there's ever a time when it's boring? Maybe one of the minor holidays? Arbor Day?" Her gaze turned from taking in the views of the city to him. Brown eyes plead to please let there be downtime, yet her brow was drawn in anticipation of the negative response. When was she supposed to get any work done?
