Log: Meredith/Sam
[There had been a book club, that was something she hadn't been lying about. They all met at a wine bar off the strip and talked over glasses of pinot grigio and chardonnay, but dinner afterwards? That wasn't a thing. The book was tucked away in her purse and she gave a smile and a nod to the other ladies in the club. She was the last one to leave, lingering as she read the text that had pinged in her pocket some time ago. For a long moment, Mere simply stared at the words he had written, once again wondering how things had changed so much from before.
She didn't let herself question long, though, shoving the phone away and leaving the wine bar, needing something a little stronger, something that would let her get lost for a little bit longer. A ten minute walk and she ducked into a place that seemed promising, one that she hadn't visited before. Conversation and music, the smell of coffee mixed in with the scent of stale beer and hard liquor. There was no hesitation in her steps as she moved up to the bar and sat, red hair tied back and off her neck, a strappy black tank and a white skirt her garb for the evening.]
Gin and tonic, please. With lime. And could you go ahead and start me a tab? [She knew the drill and already had the plastic out to pay, something in her name where the bill would escape Neil's attention.]
