Re: Apartment: Mingmei & Donna
A grin fell over her features at the the fact her new friend took the coffee. She gladly followed her into the kitchen and took a look around briefly. "I can do either," Mingmei remarked, in answer to the question about which type of dumplings. "Steamed dumplings is what I prefer too. We'll make a whole bunch of things!" She wasn't going to put her friend out or make things awkward--that was part of her own culture and something she just didn't do in general. She'd make do with what they had.
"Oh, music, yes please! Do you know..." Mingmei paused, thinking a moment to see if she knew something in her head. "Oh! Their name is Hit Five, but that's not the Chinese name. That's how they say their name in English. Very good group. They sound like...mmm...NSync or Backstreet Boys here, and they sing in both Mandarin and English. But we don't have to listen to them! I always like to learn new things about people I've met."
She flashed a happy grin to her friend, then started making herself at home in the kitchen. Her fingers kept busy pulling out the vegetables. She mixed water with the flour she'd bought, not assuming that the other girl would have anything. Carefully, she started rolling it out to form the dumplings, and Mingmei even pulled out a rice cooker from her bags. "Rice just tastes better when it's cooked like this." She smiled happily, then poured her rice into the cooker itself after plugging it in.
