Re: Death / Destiny - The Garden (warning for sads)
[It takes her a while to get to the center of the garden. She starts by turning and looking up at the statues of her siblings. One at a time, she stands in front of each and rests a hand on them, lingering longest at Dream's. she wonders if things would have been different if he'd been around. After finishing in front of Del, she walks slowly, sometimes her hand reaching out to touch the things in her brother's realm. It's so very slow, and there are a few times when she reaches up a hand to pull back fingers damp with tears. She never used to cry.
She doesn't mark the time that's passing, doesn't know how long she's been there - seconds or days. She doesn't know if, somewhere in Marvel, Eddie's been waiting for her for hours or months. But she needs whatever time it takes.
She'll never see this place again. And when she sees her brother, it won't be as she is now.
When she finally reaches the center of the garden, she doesn't stop in front of him. She stands next to him and reaches out to take his hand with saline-damp fingers, looking out in the direction he faces. Silent for another unplotable amount of time, when she finally speaks, it's soft and it comes thick from her throat.]
Do you understand it's not just because of him? That he's giving me a place to land, but that I couldn't stay here even without that?
