Re: quicklog: Gwen S/Jason T
[Jason listened to the story. He'd never heard it before, so he listened to it as a fresh thing. Mythology and stories from ancient history weren't really his strong suit - the same as stars, there hadn't been many around when he was growing up.] Sounds like a tough chick. [There was a little admiration in that. People who took corporal punishment for personal wrongs into their own hands, he did tend to like that. The fact that the man had been killed for cheating didn't escape him, though.
He let her tug him away with a small smile, and he wondered if he should answer her question honestly. It might just worry her, and it seemed like she was in a good mood right about now.] Nothing too crazy. I think I was Death, mostly crashing other people's dreams. [He infused it with a nonchalance that made it seem like he wasn't sure what had happened, not really, like it had been any other dream he'd woken up from and lost the details of.] I've had other dreams like that. [He didn't know where that confession came from, but it was true. Had he told anyone that? No, he didn't think so. But he had - he'd had dreams about it every once in a while for years, ever since he'd met Death. Not every night, not even every month. But every once in a while, he'd dream he was Death, and that death was no worry to him any more. It seemed like maybe the only way that would be possible. It was strange to think that he might want anything that Death had, considering he'd tried to kill her off himself once, but that surety, that lack of fear, that was something he was never going to have. There was never going to be a time when he didn't worry that everyone was going to die. It was part of what made bringing death so final, so sanguine, so satisfying in its sick way.
After he'd left the killing behind him - or decided to abstain, whatever - that handle on death, the one he had, fell away. Now all he had was a gnawing feeling that something was coming around the corner, all the time.]
How was it, being naked in front of a classroom? [Contemplation forgotten, he gave her a smile.] Did it make you want to go flashing in real life?
