Re: quicklog: Gwen S/Jason T
[She smiled over at him, because he was right - she was totally going to tell him. She slid a hip up on the windowsill when he turned, and she figured an astronomy lesson was a good reason to be a few minutes late.] Queen Berenice II was the wife of Ptolemy III Euergetes. She was married to Demetrius the Fair first, but he slept with her mom, and she had him killed in her mom's bedroom. She married Ptolemy after that, and she ruled with him until he died. She was, by all accounts, totally awesome. When the king died, her son had her killed, because he feared she was too strong and people would follow her, not him. People were so mad they sang songs at her tomb for days and days. The hair thing comes from this one story, where she dedicated her hair to Aphrodite for Ptolemy's safe return from war. She cut it all off, and she placed it in the temple of the goddess at Zephyrium, and he came home.
[She had been looking out the window through the entire story, and then she looked back at the boy standing at her side.] Want to tell me about your dream?
[She slipped off the windowsill, and she tugged it closed. Her bag was at her feet, and she slung it across her chest, messenger style, and then she tugged on his shirt to get him moving toward the door again.]
