Were you ever able to go back to your world? Did you try? It seems like people here just accept it. And it is not uncommon, no, but it doesn't make the fear any less debilitating when plunged headfirst into the unknown. Fear is good. It means you know enough to question and be on guard. Leaving the unknown as unknown is what is really scary.
