Re: marvel: eddie/muerte
[Eddie didn't believe that Muerte had it in her to hurt him so badly and an attempt at it would make her feel bad. Feel guilty. Her step backwards and awkward reach for support from a nearby wall fell in line with what he knew about her. Of course she felt bad. What they built together wasn't merely physical, it wasn't a fling and if his heart was broken, he believed that hers had to have been, too.
He was ready to go back to the Gotham door furious, but she said force and obligation. He knew those words too well. Those were the words he associated with his marriage to Stephanie and those were the words that ultimately made him fall out of love. He stopped, hand on his chest as he watched her crumple verbally. He heard the beginnings of what was probably a panic attack. Eddie shook his head.] Arkham is the obligation. Listen to me, Arkham is the obligation. [He tried not to make his voice forceful, like sanding down a stone to make it soft.] Muerte, a life with you is something I can't stop thinking about. That I've had to lock away because I didn't know if you wanted it. [He held his arm out if she wanted to take it for balance.] You- you're what I want. If you need me here, if you want me- I don't want to go back to Arkham, then. I want to be here.
