Re: marvel: eddie/muerte
[Eddie knew that she had moments where she wanted to be human. His impression of being a god seemed lonely with tiny touches of human interaction over eras and eras. He used to envy her because he wanted to live forever, see everything and talk to thousands of different types of people. But, there wasn't anything like holding someone's hand because you needed them. Because they were the brightest ray of sunshine in your whole damned life. So, he expected her to say she was tired of it. He knew the story, he knew she was already feeling the need to retire. With or without him.
What caught him off guard was the last part, the confession that he made her want a life. Oh sure, the equation for how she felt was easy to follow, but there was something in Eddie that desperately wanted to make a life with her. To make her feel like he was the man she wanted to settle down with. That he was worthy of that kind of thing. So, he looked shocked, tears springing from the corner of his eyes in happiness that he quickly pushed away with the palm of his hand before he thought she could notice.] Really? [His voice shook and he turned his shoulders away from her to hide the reaction. Get it together, Nigma.
He sighed and rubbed his face with his hand slowly, feeling the stubble that was growing there. Eddie didn't look at her, eyes still diagonal away towards the ground.] I can find someone to take over for me at Arkham. [He said simply, like that would solve their problems.]
