[Clinging onto him, feeling him, smelling him - reassuring herself that he was there, and that he hadn't (yet, her mind whispered traitorously) succumbed to the sort of terrible end that Destiny's lovers had, it only helped a little. Because she knew that he still held that deep connection to Gotham, that love for his city that would keep him going back time and time again. And she couldn't insist that he not go. She couldn't be the thing to try to tie him down like that - she had bad feelings about what might happen if she tried to be such a controlling force over him.
Though the feelings about him going back weren't any better.
His murmur of her name made the back of her throat hurt, and her arms tightened even more, though it seemed an impossible thing.
