Re: Gotham: Zatanna, Louis, Eddie
Magic ran through dead veins like liquid metal and the connection was forged in blood, in binding. Zatanna's circle collapsed in flitters of magical detritus as the thing within the body poured itself into their own puppet. The heartbeat thumped twice, and then ceased.
From the inside, the dead felt like an echo. Zatanna reached, and found the link with Edward in the next room easily. Her magic was thin, gold-laced livid connection, and she snapped the surface-tension delicate connection before, oh - she hoped before - the old thing that wore Louis's body made the jump through the dead to Edward himself.
Snapped puppet threads. The marionette fell heavily, knees and hands and head, the weighty sound of meat on concrete. Zatanna breathed, shallow and rapid, one hand pressed beneath her breastbone and reached once more, for Edward.
