Re: Gotham: Zatanna, Louis, Eddie
The being below did not live inside Louis always - rather, on occasion, it took the reins of him. It had been doing the same with various martyrs for millenia, individuals who had given of their bodies willingly to be avatars of its power on earth. Only the one at a time, of course - if it could have imbued an army, it would have already. But the connection, while strong, was a tangled thing. A bad snag could break its lifeline to the world above for a very long time indeed.
Louis didn't want anyone to speak to the thing. It would try to talk itself out of this inconvenient situation, the vessel of its power on Earth trapped in a paltry salt ring - pathetic. It, of course, jumped at the chance, and before he even had a chance to suggest that Eddie not probe further, his mouth gently closed, like a quieted marionette, and his eyes flared gold across the pupil like a molten halo.
"Do we have business?" asked the thing. It was old indeed, and it had a feeling that there was opportunity in the air. This was not a hissing creature of the depths, but a genteel being come to power in an age of building religions. It had rules, rituals, and guidelines, not a few cribbed from the dominant culture it had sprung from. And there was no need to be rude in matters of power exchange and discussion. More flies with honey, etcetera.
