Re: coffee: sam & neil
This was the first time she'd seen him without the fucking world falling apart, and she was willing to buy his whole thing about being content for now. But she knew him well, yeah? And it hadn't been six years for her. One year, and she hadn't forgotten much. Ok, so the months before she'd ended up in Bellevue were a drug haze, but the shit before wasn't. If anything, it was clearer in comparison. So, yeah, jury still out on being content. And she did meant it, about his job and not answering to anyone being an accomplishment; she was a shit liar. "Someone has to go easy on you, yeah?" She grinned, because he was too hard on himself, too quick to absolve her, whatever. She was glad to leave the subject of Meredith and declarations of love behind, though. A year in the rear view, but she still remembered what a hard time she had with Meredith's Valentine's wish.
"You're going out with LIN?" Yeah, ok, that was unexpected plot twist. She found herself being much more like Lou than she liked, yeah? Because Lin knew Daniel hated Neil, and what was up with hooking up with him now? "Daniel let him know he was going. He didn't just bail, yeah? He's been sending postcards, Daniel, and their relationship is hella complicated. IDK, baby." She shook her head. "Lin forgot him, yeah? Lou. And Lou has every right to be hurt, especially since Lou was in love with him and they fucked or whatever. I still convinced him to let Lin come over and mend fences." She shrugged her shoulders. Yeah, so it was contradictory; she didn't care. As for open relationships causing problems, she just gave him a long look, way too old for the youthfulness of her eyes. "Yeah. I'm just not in a rush to jump into something and have it crash, ok? We all know how well I handle stress or whatever."
Then they were outside or whatever, and payouts were important. She squinted up at him. "Well, just don't assume everyone needs the payout from you, and don't assume people are just around because you're loaded." It was genuine, the compliment, and she finally took that step back and scoffed about the talking vs. car hoods. "You never let me have any fun. Go, yeah? I'm going to smoke before I head back."
