Re: Log: Ashleigh/Louis
"And that is why I don't ask him," he quipped, with a small smile.
He took the phone from her and began paging through the photos. There was Casey - there was home. He wasn't sure what he had expected to feel, but seeing his brother, knowing he was safe somewhere and living life without any of them, it pleased and saddened him at once. He'd never once gone home. There had never been a break. Sam had been older and younger, Ash had been back to their family, back to reality. Neil had five years of a normal life at home before he came back to the hotel. Through it all, Louis had been there, unchanged, no vacation, no respite, no time away. Thinking about it, and about all the things that had happened since he'd come here, made his stomach turn over and his heart beat a little faster with anxiety. The last thing he needed to do right now, though, was punish himself with a panic attack over things that couldn't be changed. He just wanted to be happy for Casey. He wished it could be that simple.
"I certainly hope he is," he said. "I wouldn't want him regretting his good fortune." He handed the phone back to Ash, carefully. "So where are you staying now?"
