Re: Log: Ashleigh/Louis
She might regret those words in time. Nothing seemed to go right in the worlds attached to the hotel, not for long, anyway. He shouldn't be so pessimistic, though. Ash might have a perfectly fine time this round. It wasn't as if home had been perfect, either.
It was good to hear about Casey, but he accepted word of their parents with the same indifference that any of them likely would. As siblings, they had never shared the kind of closeness that Louis saw on the Alexander side. There had been no terrible circumstances to knit them together. Quite the opposite, long alienation and a cold home had, in some ways, driven a wedge between them all. Louis knew some of them were closer than others, but, as for himself, on the younger end, he had felt some isolation. Particularly as his siblings grew older, and left the moment they could go, their quiet home had become an increasingly quiet and alien place to live in. As unpleasant an experience as boarding school had been, its boisterous atmosphere had been a respite. He wasn't sure what he would have done, if he'd been forced to spend all those years living at home.
"Casey is a bad influence," Louis said, with warmth. He missed Casey, and he liked thinking of him bringing out a flair for the dramatic in Matthew.
He had seen the photos of Matthew she sent on Easter, and they had made him happy and sad at once. He wanted to meet his nephew, but that wasn't going to be possible until he was absolutely sure it would be safe. "I do," he said, looking up at her with a small smile. It would be nice to see his brother, especially. Who knew how many more photos he would see, or if this ever ended? "How is Casey's leg? How is he?"
