Re: Log: Ashleigh/Louis
Louis didn't pull away from Ash entirely either, not right away, just looking at her. She was a little older, they all were, and it was strange to remember how difficult things had been before she left. The Murphys were now just one threat in a long line of nightmares, multiplying year by year, focusing on one member of their family or another. He missed peace, had almost forgotten what it was like to not be under siege. He missed just being with his family instead of designating himself primary worrier for everyone. That Ash was doing well was a bright spot in that landscape. "I missed you too," he said. He'd been angry with her, once upon a time, but that seemed very distant now indeed. Now he just wanted to keep everyone as close as he could manage.
"You'll always see us again," he said, with a small smile. "No such luck there." At last, he separated from her. "Here, please, sit down." He sat on the sofa, sliding the box onto an end table, making room for her. "Tell me everything about how things were back home."
