Re: Study, near the back
He was a kindred spirit, it seemed, and that relaxed Evelyn enough that she didn’t bother to hide her unimpressed stare at the performance. It came with a little huff.
She turned to look at him but she didn’t hesitate at his appearance. Scarred he might be, she wasn’t from anywhere where that was uncommon, even among the upper echelons of society. That and he was human, as far as she could tell. Considering her company as of late, human didn’t warrant even a bat of an eyelash.
Instead she smiled, as if sharing a conspiratorial secret, letting it linger even as her eyes returned to the theatrics, her head inclined towards the man beside her to continue their conversation. “Should I wonder, then, what everyone else seems to find enjoyable about it?” There were gasps and nervous laughs, but most of the audience seemed otherwise enraptured by the show. “Or are they so far removed from such things that this is all fantasy?” It reminded her of the Orlesians who fawned over vicious wyvern hunts, or Antivans so quick to duel over the slightest bruising of pride.
