Re: AMNH: Gwen & Pete
The first time he'd kissed her had been on a balcony, her parents inside and her dad really mad about her choice of boys. Web at her hip, and she'd been shocked, thrilled, scared. The emotions coursing through her with the unmitigated speed of youthful feelings. Everything, and she'd been worried, but she hadn't understood what that kiss was leading to. Her entire world had changed that night, and her life had been cut short as a result, but she wouldn't go back and change it if she could, not even with that knowledge at her disposal.
The last time he'd kissed her had been on a carousel horse, and she couldn't remember if it was before this Mary Jane or after. She couldn't remember what was happening with Jason or Harry at the time. She only knew that, again, that night marked a change, and like the kiss of their teenage years, she didn't realize it at the time. Even now, she wasn't really sure what that had opened the door to, but she was pretty sure it was heartache. And she was a smart girl, and she (like Flash) could see precisely where this was headed, but she still kissed him back - because she was totally an idiot where he was concerned.
It was his fingers against her shirt that made her pull back. Not because she didn't like it, but because he was touching her, and she did like it, and that was totally not on the agenda for the evening. "You just kissed me," she said, stupid and breathless and a little déjà vu - but so informative? Yep. Smooth. Real smooth, and she watched his mouth like that might change something. Which, okay, new plan. She lifted her cornflower gaze to meet his. Better? Better.
