Re: AMNH: Gwen & Pete
He laughed when her voice came out of the PA system, because he should've expected as much. Of course. The trick, though, was to listen past that to figure out where she was lurking. The game was on. "Sharon Carter is our age? Seriously?" Peter figured it was a door thing. Or maybe she'd found the fountain of youth, lucky her. Yeah, the music was way cheesy, but he'd heard worse. It wasn't so bad. He was reminded of chick flicks and 80s movies, the kind he secretly (or not-so-secretly) liked. He listened as she talked about why she liked the music, just wandering around, and he realized just how much stress Gwen had been under lately. Complicated was a good word for their lives these days-- guiltily, he knew he hadn't exactly helped with that. "Good point," he conceded. "I'm pretty sure none of those things were worries back then. Well. Maybe fate, but I'll argue you on that one." But having time to just be young without the responsibility of alien symbiotes or nightmare worlds or comic book fates, that sounded nice.
This was a break. Well, he was pretty sure it was a break. They were in a museum after dark, kind of playing hide-and-seek; that was fun, right? So maybe he still a little iffy on where they stood after the MJ thing, but whatever. He was still interested, and whatever happened... happened. And if nothing did? Well, being her friend was better than nothing, even if it'd be hard, but he'd been prepared to do it before when she was with Jason. He kind of thought MJ and Flash might get together based on how pumped she'd been to go see him, but he knew that didn't necessarily change things either.
Anyway, he hadn't come to pressure her into giving him another chance. That wasn't what this was about. "You'd be paying for the dino doctors, not me. I'm just a poor, underpaid college student." He grinned. "You'd be way impressed. You might even swoon." Hey, it was innocent teasing! Totally innocent. Not flirting, nope, no way. Peter figured she'd be listening to his footsteps, and while he could try being ninja-sneaky, creeping up on her, there was an easier way. True, he didn't use his webs for leisure use often. Nowadays there were no late-night picnics, no need to impress anyone, and if he wasn't in the suit then he was usually just trying to not be late to wherever he had to be. Maybe this could be an exception, though. Why not?
Snick went his shooters, quiet, and he was webbing between pillars in no time.
"You know, this is dancing music. It's a total crime to have it playing and not dance." He checked displays as he swung, one by one, but listening to her voice had helped. She didn't sound close, she wasn't loud enough for that, and once he thought he had her location pinpointed he smiled to himself. Gwen probably thought he was walking. Hah. He pushed off the closest pillar, shot a web just above the display, and dropped next to the bear she was hiding behind in a crouch. "Do you dance, Gwen Stacy?" Grin.
