    Several thousand years ago The Island was home to the great creatures of legend. They chose to go out into the world of man and for its safety, The Five hid The Island away. Those who had left could never return. Ages passed and both the numbers and power of those with the old blood dwindled. Hunted and hiding among humanity, on the verge of extinction, to survive they interbred, blended, and weakened further. Fifteen years ago, The Island reappeared and began to call its children home.

    In the middle of January Xavier's School for Gifted Students was attacked in the dead of night. Both mutant and non-mutant alike fought to lend a powerful blow to the mutant community by taking out the school. They did not expect the battle they would be faced with and many were lost that night. Since then, under the leadership of Ororo Munroe, the staff and students at Xavier's have struggled to find normalcy once more. The mansion is being repaired slowly, security enhanced, and students are finding comfort in consistent classes once again. But there are darker things looming just out of sight.

    In the space of one day, Magneto, who was at the mansion to help a struggling Lorna Dane, has disappeared along with the green-haired girl. Scott Summers, long thought dead, has returned to find his one-time home still in a state of partial ruin, his lover gone, and his father-figure dead. With shifts in command and mutants losing control of their powers due to cures wearing off, what else will the residents of Xavier's have to face. Is the New Brotherhood still a threat, perhaps an even bigger one now with Magneto on the loose? If Scott is somehow alive, could it mean the professor lives somewhere, too?

    		The receiving room lights, a hot white halogen array, greet you when you wake up. The room is small, with only some dated medical monitoring equipment, a metal gurney, a cylindrical security camera, and a locker beside the door. All of it was a sterile white once upon a time, but has been aged with mildew and mold.

    You are covered in a hospital gown and nothing else. That's alright, your clothing is waiting for you in the locker with a yellowed envelope on top of it.

    Inside is a letter printed on old perforated printer paper with the side tabs still attached.

    As a volunteer for our program, you have been transported to our subterranean laboratory facility for testing and monitoring. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped to accommodate you during your stay with bunk space, a mess hall, gymnasium, and indoor garden. The non-invasive security system will monitor your activity and record your progress.

    Once you exit the room with your belongings, the door locks. There will be no way to return to that room, and there is no sign of a way out.
