While the world was consumed with the Great War, many weren't aware of another war happening within it. Magical beings were being persecuted by the non-magical. The magical world was being burned to the ground and their retaliation was decimating the non-magical public. The Great Treaty was signed on December 25, 1919 after years of death on both sides. The non-magical agreed to no longer hunt or kill any magical being, even under the cover of religion. But their armistice came with a heavy price. Magical people and creatures would have their powers bound for 100 years. The Magical world, having a different concept of time and a healthy amount of self preservation, agreed in order to prevent their kind from being killed. The powers were bound on January 1, 1920. And quickly, magic once again became a fairy tale. Four generations of magical people and creatures were born without knowing their powers. The first generation may have believed their parents' stories, but by the fourth… well who is going to believe that they were really a vampire or a witch? A siren might have a gorgeous voice and come from a family of talented singers, but what did that prove? Only The Council knew the truth. A group of six magical beings entrusted with the history of the magical world. These were the only six magical beings in the world who still had their powers. People had all but forgotten the Great Treaty. On January 1, 2020, the binding ended. The Council had been preparing for the influx of magic, but there was no way to prepare for what was to come. One hundred years of magical beings breeding and marrying non-magical people had resulted into thousands and thousands of magical creatures, people, half-breeds, and hybrids. The magical world was coming to life rapidly and there was no way to control it. Factions began to form almost immediately. Groups squabbled for power, for understanding, for knowledge. With Voldemort's disappearance, the Death Eaters retained control of the Ministry, their reign arising from out of the crumbling ashes of the Battle of Hogwarts. The magical world waited with bated breath to see what was to come. The changes, however, started off impossibly small. Bits and pieces, easier to swallow, leaving the masses more complacent in their long term effects. Following a series of muggle attacks on wizarding communities, muggleborns began to lose their rights in the name of magical protection. Falling to the wayside, just as intended, they came to be an unprotected, at-risk population, easy to exploit. Now, fourteen years later, the true hierarchy has emerged based on blood status. Those at the top seem to have all the rights, while every step could lead to possible ruin. Those at the bottom seem to have nothing to lose while those in the middle have the largest array of choices. Now, once again, war peaks on the horizon. The Purist's are intent on seizing control to keep their system in place, by any means necessary. The lines of the law begin to blur, all in the name of supposed safety. Philadelphia, one of the last cities still standing, is the final battle ground. Demons and Angels have gathered there in an attempt to take control.
