Re: Bruce Wayne + Zatanna Zatara
What? Suddenly Zatanna was against Bruce's chest, and she suddenly found herself lacking the witty response that had been on the tip of her tongue just moments before. (Damn the man, he was too charming and perfect for his own good. And hers.) It didn't help that she suspected that the photograph of them would probably land in at least one news rag-- she knew speculation would only feed what were probably terribly misguided hopes.
And then they were on the dance floor-- how had that happened? She really needed to get her head in the game here-- and Bruce had a hand on her hip, guiding her along as if she were something better than a mediocre dancer. (Her lessons had been few and a far between at an embarrassingly old age.)
Zatanna almost stopped moving when Bruce asked about a private showing. For a moment, she was certain she must have misheard him. Then she thought about it and decided it was right on par for the Bruce Wayne often scrutinized by the media. And if she was disappointed by such a shallow request, well, that was her mistake for expecting anything else.
(It really wasn't her fault. There was just something in his eyes that always pulled her back in. The rest of him might look the lout but there were depths there, she was certain. That was how she knew there was more to him than what he showed the world. She knew there was.
Then again, what did she really know about it? Zatanna had spoken with him-- what? Maybe a handful of times? She'd hardly be the first woman to be wrong about a man if it turned out she was mistaken, after all.)
Forcing a smile, she tilted her head thoughtfully for a moment. She decided to act on the assumption that Bruce was speaking of an actual event and not simply making a lewd comment. (Perhaps a party to celebrate the completion of construction? Zatanna didn't usually do private events but if she could convince him to make it something more than an excuse for the rich to congregate, she might be willing to entertain for free.) "How many guests would be at this engagement?" she asked.
