Re: Bruce Wayne + Zatanna Zatara
Zatanna smothered the urge to snort at Bruce's insistence that his twigs were more than just arm candy. It wasn't that she didn't believe him capable of dating truly interesting woman-- in fact, it was her belief that he could that helped keep her infatuated-- but the way he'd said it was hardly convincing. "I'm sure," was all she offered in a noncommittal sort of way.
When Bruce offered his hand, Zatanna took a mental snapshot. She wanted to remember exactly how he looked at that moment-- handsome, charming and choosing to dance with her. Then she placed hers in his with a smile. "I don't think I've met anyone who pities you," she answered with a shake of her head. "They're mostly terribly jealous from what I've seen."
Who could blame them? Bruce Wayne a famous playboy lout with more money than sense. (As the old saying went-- women wanted him and men wanted to be him.) Sure, his parents had died when he was only a child but Zatanna had been an orphan for some time now and, although it wasn't a wound that ever fully healed, it did hurt less with time.
