Harley rarely got irritated, but she was on edge this week. Her session with the Joker had been cut short on Monday due to a problem with one of her other patients. She had taken extra care that session, wearing slacks to cover the bruises and bringing a tape recorder only to be dragged out of the room for some small, easily handled issue with Mr. Merkel.
To make up for the rude interruption, Harley had arranged for a more private meeting with her patient. Dr. Arkham, after some hesitation, agreed to a meeting within the asylums greenhouse. It was secluded enough so that her full attention could be given to him and she hoped he understood the silent apology for the rude disruption earlier in the week.
By now, the bruises on her knees had faded and she reverted back to the tight skirts she adored. It was shorter than the other, a few inches above the knee, but she felt it complimented the red blouse the best. She had let her hair down for this meeting and somewhere in the pockets of her jacket that she carelessly left in her office were the spectacles she favored. Oh well, she had also left her notebook behind. Both were unnecessary.
She passed a few tables adorned with plants of various hues and sizes to reach him, but when she did, she greeted him from the opposite side of the table he was working at. It felt more natural this way. "Hello, Mister Joker. How are you doing today?"
