When next Roger had a coherent thought, he found himself crouched on the floor, still in front of his door. It was well past bed time. There was a light supper on this desk. He sat and looked at it for a while then placed the tray outside his door and began writing in a journal.

"Because it's a secret," Roger said patiently for the fifth time. He'd put the children in their swimsuits and then street clothes over top. Robert was mystified by his father's strange excitement. Rhiannon was downstairs, in her kitchen, packing up a picnic basket, utterly thrilled that Roger was including his children so much with this new person in his life. She couldn't think of a better sign.
"He doesn't know how to relax and we must teach him. Are you ready to teach him your part?" Robert nodded solemnly. Roger turned to look at Rosa Lynne and she nodded as well.

Adrian knew he'd spent way too long looking at his wardrobe. It shouldn't be that hard to find something nice to wear. He had a lot of nice clothes. Too much, some would say.
Finally he gave up and went for the easy choice. It was just a dinner, nothing more. No party, no ball, no Beaters... just food and nice conversation. Maybe a walk...

Roger spent two days looking at grills - magical and muggle. There were big fancy ones with all sorts of knobs and dials and special racks and plates and one even came with its own little cold box underneath. He thought these might impress his Saturday cook-out guest. But really, all he wanted was something to cook on. So he settled for a small plain, uncomplicated, inexpensive model with a rack for the actually grilling and another rack higher up to toast buns.

Roger’s skin was nicely browned like it hadn’t been since the summer before he entered Hogwarts. He’d just spent four weeks vacationing with his children, becoming reacquainted with them, playing in the sun with them … It had been fabulous, but now it was time to get back into the swing of things.

Roger's hand gave a little jerk as he scanned the parchment. "Pucey," he murmured and suddenly was far away back on the Quidditch pitch, years and years ago.
Dragging his mind back to the present he hurriedly scanned the healing record. There were several cuts, bruises, breaks, a few bad jinks and hexes. Overall, excellent health.

Naked from his shower, Roger dug around the back of his dresser drawer for the charmed shrunken wardrobe. The closet provided in the tiny room didn't hold a quarter of his clothes. Ah, there it was. He pulled out the tiny wardrobe and enlarged it to full size. It was ancient oak and took up all the floor space in his room.

After breakfast, Adrian decided to finally do something else than buying breakfast with his muggle money. He wasn't exactly sure yet, how much £300 was but by looking at the notes, he had a feeling they were worth enough for what he had in mind.

Roger trotted up the stairs and into his room before he could chance seeing anyone. There were two owls waiting on his window sill, both held distinctively decorated parchments. He grabbed the last of his owl treats and fed them. The haughty eagle owl from Coq d'Or sniffed and bobbed until he came up with a knut tip.

For a while Adrian merely sat and thought about nothing, letting time, silence and the lazy afternoon sun drift by on the small floating dust particles between him and the window. If he closed his eyes, the light right now could almost fool him into think he was at home, in his rooms.

After coming home from Diagon Alley, Roger went to Hogwarts to see Hagrid and to talk with him about Cedric's memorial plaque. He also met Ynez Castillo, a guest teacher of Ritual Magic, visiting from the US, and enjoyed her company for the rest of the day and evening.

After a sumptious dinner with lots of lively conversation, the full crew at Lammas Park Boarding House sauntered upstairs to crack open a few (or a lot of) bottles of beer. They sat around the common room talking idly. Roger asked, "Anyone for a game of cards? We could play knut poker or something."
