snowed in

Ah, snow! How romantic. How peaceful. How inconvenient. A huge, freak snowstorm has snowed you in. The doorways are blocked, the cars are buried, and all of the public transportation has been canceled due to safety concerns. Let's hope you're stocked up on energy drinks and hot pockets, because they're saying that it's going to last at least three days.

How to Play:
  1. Post with your character | fandom | and any preferences.
  2. Either leave a blank comment or tag someone else.
  3. Be awesome to each other.
  4. Have fun!

You can use the RNG to pick or choose your favorite!

1. Besties: You guys hang out all the time, and you were so wrapped up in your movie marathon or crafting or whatever besties do that you didn't notice the piles of snow forming outside. Looks like this turned into a sleepover! A three day minimum sleep over.
2. Sleeping (over) With The Enemy: You stopped by to pick up your things, or to demand someone pay for damages, or just to tell this person that they're a jackass. You two argued for the entire hour that it took for the door to be snowed shut. You better apologize, because now you need to crash at jackass house.
3. Hello Stranger: You two are neighbors in an apartment complex but you've never even spoken. Now you've locked yourself out of the apartment and you can't leave the building to get a locksmith or a copy from the landlord. Either knock on your neighbors door or sit in the hall and wait for someone to find you. What did we learn?
4. Lovers Spat: You're sick of hearing noises coming from your neighbors apartment all through the night, but these noises are different. There's a fight, and now your neighbors (ex) significant other has been kicked out into the hallway, and they won't let him/her back in. What are you supposed to do, let them sit there for days?
5. Power Outage: A sub category, you can pick two for this one. The power has gone out for a partial duration or the whole duration of the snowed in plot. Better snuggle up for body heat, hope you have blankets!
6. Wildcard: Don't like the plots here? Come up with your own!

( psh don't even worry about it lol hope this works! )

So maybe it wasn't her best thought-out life decision to call out a teacher for misspeaking in class. It only ended up landing her in detention when there was a forecast for snow on the way when Emmy would've rather been home not having to worry about how the crap she was going to get home because she'd missed the stupid bus.

...but then again, the view wasn't so bad.

Emmy spends the entire ninety minute detention period admiring the left side of Stiles Stilinski's face from two rows back while chewing on the eraser end of her pencil and she figures there are worse places to be. Sure, she'll be stuck in school until at least seven o'clock when her mom gets out of work and can come get her, but it's a small price to pay, she thinks, to share space with the hot upperclassman she's been fawning over from afar for the past two years. ...even if they can't talk and he doesn't ever actually turn around or even get off his cell phone once Mr. Fredrich leaves the room to make copies...only to never really return until five minutes before the end of the period.

He dismisses them and then disappears again and Emmy takes her time putting her books away again after carefully laying two of them and a notebook out on her desk to create the illusion of studying just in case. The only thing she has to complain about beyond the extra long wait to go home is the fact that they were in the detention room which intentionally has no windows, so she wonders whether the snow actually came and if she could just...walk the mile to get home and text her mom not to pick her up after all.

When she can't bullshit anymore, she finally slings her bag over her shoulder and gets up, moving toward the door, bidding her crush adieu in her head because she doesn't have the balls to do it out loud, and starts toward the door only to have to stop short when she hears the clatter of her cell phone falling out of the pocket she forgot to zip and falling to the floor, shattering the screen. "Oh, no, come on...seriously?" she whimpers quietly, turning and shrugging off her backpack so that she can crouch to retrieve it.

Stiles isn't in any great hurry to get home. His dad is pissed he got detention again, and he knows there's going to be a lecture, or at least an attempt at a lecture, over dinner. He's moving in slow motion, because going home feels like the greater punishment than sitting at school all afternoon.

He sighs dramatically in response to the girl dropping her cell phone. What an amateur more that was, he thinks. Seriously, who does that? But he kind of feels sorry for her at the same time, especially when he realises the phone cracked.

"That's harsh," he says as he gets to his feet, his own backpack slung up on one shoulder. "Did you kill it?" he asks. He's not a heartless guy, he's actually pretty compassionate. At least he likes to think so. "If it is, you can use mine if you need to call for a ride."

Emmy's gaze snaps up when she hears Stiles speak, having mostly expected him to just walk right past her and go off on his merry way. "Huh? Oh, I...um...I don't know. I don't think so, it's...I have insurance," she stumbles through a response, picking the phone up off the ground and tries to turn it on. It works, but it's hard to see the icons or content on the screen. Her expression falls with disappointment. Her mom's going to kill her.

Her eyebrows lift a little with surprise at his offer. "Oh, I...no, that's okay. Thank you so much, but I...my mom's picking me up in a few hours when she gets out of work, it's okay," she says, face going red and growing warm with embarrassment.

She sighs a little. "Guess I should've sprung for the Otter Box..."

"I had one. I took it off after a week because it drove me insane," Stiles tells her. He holds his phone out to her, without realising the battery is all but dead. The moment she turned it on to try to make a call, it would die. "Take the phone. Make the call," he says, and he gives the phone a little shake in her direction.

"The weather's supposed to be bad later, so the sooner you get out of here the better. And," he raises a brow and gives her a look down the slope of his nose. "And I'm not leaving until you make that call," he says. He's a good guy. He cares about people. Even people he doesn't know.

Emmy smiles a little and wrinkles her nose, looking down. She's always thought the Otter Box cases were kind of ugly, anyway. At least he doesn't think she's an idiot for not having the case. ...for dropping the phone, probably, but at least not for the lack of case.

She looks back at him and catches her bottom lip between her teeth. "I can't..." she says. "She won't even get the message until later, anyway, I...I don't have anybody else to call and she can't get out earlier, we already, um...talked about it. Earlier. When I called her before detention, I mean."

Her lips press together as she looks back at him, face burning with a blush. "You don't have to stay." Even if I wish you would.

He's moved to the door, and he's half in the classroom and half in the hallway. She doesn't want the phone, so he slips it back in his pocket. And glances down the hall to see the white stuff coming down like someone's tossing it from the roof.

That probably isn't a good sign. "Look," he says and steps back into the room. "It looks pretty nasty out there. I've got my jeep outside. Let me drive you home."

It doesn't seem like a big deal to him. She can't live far, because the school's zone isn't that big. He'll just take a side trip to drop her off, then he'll head home. The jeep's tires aren't that old, they'll still have good traction. He doesn't foresee a problem.

Emmy looks genuinely, but pleasantly, surprised by his offer. Besides the fact that it's him offering to take her home, it's him offering to take her home at 4:30, rather than her having to wait around until after 7:00 when she's pretty sure the school will be completely devoid of other life and will, inevitably, feel way creepier than a school has any right to.

"You don't have to do that," she blurts out and then, immediately realizing that it's a little dismissive, she barrels on, "but that would be really cool of you, if you really don't mind?"

"I don't mind," Stiles tells her. So he doesn't know her. Big deal. He's pretty sure she's not a werewolf, and he hopes she's not something worse. He feels like he can take care of himself, if it comes to that, but he really doesn't think it would. She's just a girl, and she needs a lift, because he'd be damned if he'd leave a defenseless kid alone at the school in weather like this.

"Come on. I need to stop by my locker, then I'm ready to go." He leads the way out of the classroom they've been stuck in. The window down the hall shows a wintry scene like Beacon Hills has never seen before. Stiles really hopes that's not some kind of omen or something.

The teenager's heart leaps into her throat and she can already feel her face going red and her hands starting to shake. It wasn't like she thought that Stiles was going to be a huge jerk or anything, because that's not the case at all. She just also didn't expect that he would be so nice, either.

So, she smiles probably a little too brightly and nods probably a little too easily and her tone probably sounds a little too excited when she chirps, "okay," in response before following him out of the room. She can't help noticing, as she follows him down the hall and can actually see the light of day again, that there's a lot of snow coming down. Heavily. She's never seen that much snow before in her entire life combined and it's all falling out of the sky like they're in some cute little New England town and not southern California. "Holy crap on a cracker..." she murmurs, having to speed up to catch up with him because she hadn't realized just how much she'd slowed her gait to watch it.

"Yeah." He slows his steps, giving her time to catch up to him. "I definitely don't think you should stay here and wait for your ride." He turns a corner, and goes to his locker in that hallway. He holds up a package of Reese Peanut Butter Cups. "I don't know about you, but I need a snack." He grins and tears the package open at the same time he shoulders his locker closed.

He slides one of the peanut butter cups out and holds it out to her.

"Yeah, really...it's really coming down. I owe you one," she replies, following him around the corner to his locker. She leans against the one beside his and smiles as he holds one of the peanut butter cups out to her, reaching out to take it. "I owe you two," she corrects herself, chewing on her bottom lip shyly for a moment before finally taking a bite out of it. "Thanks."

"It's fine," Stiles shoves half the peanut butter cup in his mouth. "I'm not worried about it." He just hopes he gets her home safely. He definitely won't mention there's more duct tape under his hood than there is actual under the hood car parts.

"We really should get moving, though. The sooner we get home, the better." He gestures toward the door. He's not panicking, at least not yet. He'll probably over react later, when it's over, when he's safe and warm at home. For now, he's mostly just focusing on the thought of taking her home, and getting her there safely.

At the gesture, Emmy starts toward the door. She's never driven — at all — but he seems confident, so she's willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. ...hell, even if he didn't seem confident, she'd still go with him, because he's Stiles.

"Yeah, no, totally," she agrees hefting her backpack a little on her shoulders. "I live downtown, you know that little residential area like a few blocks from all the stores and stuff? In there."

"Yeah. Okay." Stiles reaches the door and pushes one open. The cold hits him and very nearly knocks him back. He shoulders ahead and holds the door open for her.

"The jeep's right over there," he tells her. He takes hold of her hand, impulsively, but he doesn't want her to fall or anything on the way to the parking lot. it isn't far, but in weather like this, it seems like it is.

"Oh my God," she gasps when he opens the door, pulling her coat in tighter around herself. "Holy crap, that's cold..."

Stiles takes her hand and Emmy looks a little shocked, but her face warms and she's blushing as she ducks her head a little bit — which helps block the cold breeze from her face, so there is that — as she walks with him.

Hitting a hidden patch of ice, Emmy slips a little, gripping at his hand more tightly and grabbing the shoulder of his jacket reflexively with her other to balance herself out. Once she's good again, she immediately lets go of his jacket. "...sorry. Ice."

"This. Is. Madness." Jess had her nose pressed up against the cold glass staring as more and more of the white stuff dumped from the sky. California did not get snow. And even when they did, it barely stuck to the ground. Never had the sunshine state seen anything like this. "Is this one of the signs of the apocalypse?" She finally pried herself from the window and skipped over to where Sam was sitting on the couch.

She was dressed in her pajamas, a tee-shirt paired with Wonder Woman bottoms. An enormous fuzzy white blanket was wrapped around her shoulders and she burrowed in it as she curled up against Sam. "Seriously. Should we be preparing for the end of times or something?"

The snow coming down meant there was a chill in the air. It felt damn good, to Sam. He really wanted to open the windows, but Jess didn't share his affinity for the cold, and he really didn't have any objections to cuddling with her on the sofa.

He eased an arm around her shoulders and leaned in to kiss her temple. Settling back, he grinned at her question. "No, babe. At least I don't think so. I hope not!" That would be bad. Especially with all the werewolves, vampires, demons, and other creatures of the night walking the earth.

Of course Jess didn't know about any of that, and if Sam had his way, she never would.

Jess leaned into her boyfriend and smiled when she felt his kiss. The snow had caught her off guard when it started dumping, (she was the kind of girl who wore sandals 98% of the year) but she had to admit it was pretty awesome to see. Plus it gave her an excuse to snuggle up with Sam. Not that she ever really needed an excuse. “I hope not either,” her voice was teasing. “I haven’t stocked up on enough Oreos to last me through an apocalypse. You better hope this doesn’t last too long, Winchester. If we run out of cookies, I can’t be held accountable for my actions.”

She growled and tried to make a fierce expression. Though with her full cheeks bright blue eyes, the effect was more adorable than anything else. “I can be very scary.”

"You," he said and tapped the end of her nose with his finger, "are the scariest thing I've ever seen," he grinned at her. "And, let me remind you, I grew up with John and Dean Winchester." Of course, Jess had never met his father or his brother. And she had no idea what his life was like before he'd turned his back on the family business in favor of going to college and maybe actually making a life for himself.

She nodded sagely for a second, agreeing that yes, she was in fact the most terrifying thing Sam Winchester had ever come up against. Then she dissolved into laughter and maneuvered herself until she was sitting in Sam’s lap, her legs straddling either side of him. “Yeah, I’ll bet.” She leaned forward and kissed him.

She loved Sam. He was her best friend and the kind of guy she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. But while she had dragged him to family dinners and told him numerous stories about growing up, he’d always kept his experiences growing up close to the chest. It made her a little sad, truth be told. She wasn’t sure if he was shielding her to protect her or if he just didn’t want to rehash bad memories, but she wished he’d share more with her. Leaning forward, Jess kissed him again. “Tell me about them. Your dad and brother. Pleeease?” She batted her lashes. “I’ll share my cookies with you.”

"There's really not much to tell that I haven't already said, Jess," Sam told her. He shifted, obviously uncomfortable with the conversation. He didn't like to talk about his family. It would be too easy to get too comfortable, to let something slip that shouldn't be said.

"My dad and I butt heads from the day I was born. I'm too much like my mom, I guess. And with her gone, especially, that made him twitchy sometimes. And Dean...Dean was always Dad's perfect little soldier, wanted nothing more than to follow in his footsteps. I didn't." Sam shrugged. "So here I am. Pretty much as far from the two of them as I can get."

Laura's already been having a frustrating day, she hasn't had more than a handful of hours of sleep all week between her two jobs and then her nightmares and all she wants to do is go home. Derek's not due back from his own job for a few hours, she's got take out from the place he hates and a date with the couch. Considering she's barely made it home with all the snow she's more than ready to crash for a few hours.

Except she doesn't have her key. A realization that comes at her door and after several minutes of double checking every pocket in her jacket. She debates just breaking the damn lock, but she doesn't want to pay for a locksmith to fix it.

Laura pulls her phone out to call Derek and lets out a low sigh when it instantly dies. Yeah, today definitely hates her. She bites her lip and glances around the hall. She could just hunker down on the floor she supposes, but she knows Derek will probably get a break before he's due home and maybe he can come let her in. At the very least she should call her boss and see if she'd left her keys at work.

She glances at the door across the hall, she can hear music so she knows he's home. She's never really spoken to Alex outside of a few polite hellos the few times they've crossed paths. No time like the present to change that she figures. Laura knocks on the door and waits for him to open.

Alex decided to close the shop because the weather's supposed to be pretty nasty and, if he's honest, he thinks that anyone who wants porn that bad on a shitty day can just get online and find it on YouPorn so that he doesn't have to risk his life driving at two in the morning on roads that haven't been plowed. So, instead of being in the shower like he normally would be right now, he's sitting in front of his easel in a pair of flannel pants and a t-shirt smeared in paint when he hears the knock on the door.

Not expecting company, because with the hours he keeps, he nearly never is, Alex takes pause, just staring back at the door with a lifted eyebrow before finally getting up and crossing the apartment to answer it.

The girl on the other side lives across the hall. He's seen her before, but they've never really spoken beyond saying hello a handful of times when they happen to be in the hall at the same time. So to see her on the other side of his door is a surprise. "...hey?" he asks more than greets.

When Alex answers she's momentarily questioning her decision - because now she has to do the people thing. The people thing with the boy across the hall who is definitely working the floppy hair and paint smeared t-shirt thing he has going on right then. She shifts her weight a little and shrugs somewhat. "Sorry - I didn't mean to interrupt you," she offers because he was clearly busy and now she felt bad about knocking.

"I - uh - I forgot my key," she starts. Give her drunks at the bar any day and she can bullshit with the best of them, but actual one on one talking? Well, that was not really her forte. Not anymore. "And my phone's dead, I was wondering if I could use yours to call my brother real quick?"

With shrug and a shake of his head, Alex leans against the door a little. "No, it's cool, I'm just painting," he replies casually, because it's a thing that he does to pass the time, not a thing that he has to do and that would constitute being called busy, in his opinion.

But then she goes on and her presence at his door makes sense. Because of course she locked herself out and needs a phone, why the hell else would his hot neighbor be at his door? "Oh! Yeah, totally, come on in," he says, trying to recover quickly, and stepping aside to let her in.
